God Osiris

Neter Osiris - Lord of the underworld, judge of the dead, and the brother-husband of Goddess Isis. 

Osiris was one of the most popular Egyptian Gods, second to Isis who became central to the Ancient Egyptian culture and religion. 

In the most well known story Osiris, a giving god of life and abundance, was murdered by his envious brother Seth and dismembered into several body parts.  His devoted wife Isis using her magic healed Osiris making him whole again.  As such, Osiris became a powerful symbol of the of cycles of death, rebirth and transformation, and was associated with the Bennu bird, a representation of the Phoenix who rises from the ashes anew. 

Seth's resentment of Osiris’s success and abundance, grew from a lack of gratitude and envy for someone else's good fortune.  The story dramatically illustrated the consequences of ingratitude, but also celebrates victory of harmony over chaos.
